Thing #3

50 Must-see Teacher Blogs offered a variety of informative ideas shared by other teachers.  The information, tutorials, worksheets, slide shows and other resources will be priceless for any teacher.  An important part of being a teacher is research and staying connected to current situations.  Educational blogs offer a way for teachers to do both.

Social media is a great tool for a teacher to plan for their student’s success.  I plan to teach 3rd grade and  see the benefit of blogs in the classroom.  The students will have an avenue to examine and elaborate on the subject they are learning.  They also have an opportunity to learn of cultures around the world.  The parents will have an easy way to stay connected to their child and teacher.  They will always be informed on what is being taught in the classroom.  Blogs and other 2.0 tools will greatly influence how I teach and the students learn.

  1. I also think that blogs are a great way to stay connected to the current situations in education and to resources teachers can use. I think it's great that blogs allow students to learn about different cultures and more about the subject they are learning.

  2. I think that a blog would be great for a 3rd grade classroom. I am amazed at how young students are when they learn about technology. A lot of schools start showing kindergarteners how to use computers. I guess students are never too young to learn about technology. When I was in school, I did not see a computer until I was in the 5th grade. And the computers back then were not like the computers today. I also think parents would enjoy reading your blog so that they could keep up with what their child was doing in school.

  3. Chassity, I agree, times have changed. When I was in school technology was scarce. Today, in the school I work, we have a pormethean board in every room, a computer lab, a portable laptop lab, an I-pod lab and every teacher has and I-pad. It is a good thing we are getting training now! Jill
